Loongana Lime Pty Ltd, Parkeston, WA.

The Parkeston Plant is located 10kms from the township of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia and produces quicklime for the mining industry. The plant was expanded to meet increased demands generated by the introduction of laterite nickel processing plants in the Goldfields region. In addition, a new oil storage facility was constructed to supply fuel for two (2) new 30m x 4.0m dia vertical shaft kilns. Badenport was responsible for completing the civil works for the new expansion.

Badenport's Scope:

Badenport's scope included the following:

• Construction of Stockpile Reclaim Tunnel. 
• Construction of vertical shaft line kiln foundations including mounting platform and columns. 
• Construction of Rail Tipping Pocket. Works included pit excavation, floor slabs, walls and removal of existing rail. 
• Construction of Waste Oil Facility including floor slabs, walls and tank foundations. 
• Construction of Weighbridge. Works included slabs, walls, drainage and new haulage bypass road. 
• Construction of two (2) 500m3 Lime Silo foundations. 
• Construction of foundations for transfer stations, taken up towers, conveyor belts and low level conveyor modules. 
• Construction of Primary Crusher Foundations. 
• Construction of Screen House Foundations.

Project Highlights:

Total quantity of concrete amounted to 3,500m3
Works were completed with existing plant fully operational and restrictions on working area.
